Sport MK Sports Achiever of the Year 2023 Awards
Primary School of the Year – Two Mile Ash School
On Tuesday 5th December, we were honoured to receive the Primary School of the Year award at the Sport MK Sports 2023 Awards evening. A wonderful event held at Denbigh School saw a celebration of the excellent sporting achievements and hard work of sports men, sports women, volunteers and organisations from across Milton Keynes. Adding to the Milton Keynes School Sport Partnership award in July, this recognition caps off a year full of proud moments shared with our pupils and families at Two Mile Ash School. Mr Saville and Mr Hobley thank you all for your commitment and support this year and look forward to what 2024 brings!
Basketball
Year 5/6 MK Schools Competitions
A huge well done to the Year 5/6 Basketball Teams at their MK Schools Competitions in November. In two very competitive, energetic and hard-fought tournaments, TMA placed 1st out of 8 at Shenley Brook End School and 3rd out of 8 at Radcliffe School! You all played amazingly well!
Basketball Festivals
Well done to the Year 4, 5s and 6s in their MK School's Basketball Festivals this term at Shenley Brook End School and Sir Herbert Leon Academy! Excellent play on show from all with many of our players being awarded MVPs for their hard work.
MK Breakers Assembly & Game Day Trip
It was amazing to see so many TMA pupils (including former pupils) and families on Saturday 18th November at the Milton Keynes Breakers Basketball Club game day trip against NASSA. Thank you, MK Breakers, for welcoming us following the inspirational assembly from Jordan Spencer earlier in the month- the team played awesome and deserved their big win! We enjoyed getting autographs and photos with the players and can't wait to come back and support you again soon! Let's Go Breakers!
House Basketball
Congratulations to Townsend House (Year 6), Rutherford House (Year 5) and Brittain (Year 4) on winning House Basketball Competitions in November! Very competitive events enjoyed by 120 children who represented their House across the three lunchtime tournaments.
Tag Rugby
Year 5/6 Tag Rugby League
We are very proud of the Year 5/6 Tag Rugby players that showed amazing commitment in their MK Primary Schools Competition in November. Both of our teams demonstrated great progress over four weeks, with one of our teams qualifying for the finals, winning three, drawing one and losing 1 match This resulted in them being placed an incredible 2nd Place overall! Your hard work paid off, congratulations! Thank you to all the parents that supported too.
Year 5/6 Tag Rugby
Lots of fun had by groups of Year 5 & 6 pupils in Tag Rugby matches at Bushfield and Middleton Schools this term - games played in great spirit with so many amazing tries scored by all teams! Well done to all of those involved!
House Football
In the Year 3 & Year 4 House Football events, a total of 127 pupils competed for their House Sport Trophies! Congratulations Hawthorne House in Year 3 and Emburey House in Year 4 on their wins!
Cross Country
Year 3/4 Running Festival at Bushfield School
Well done to the Year 3 and 4 Runners on Friday 3rd November at the Bushfield School Running Festival! Great to see so many children enjoying running at a great event. Our 13 runners did amazing, showing lots of determination and desire to do their best! Three of our pupils (Hasan, Mizuki & Alexis) even came away with medals for coming in the top 3 in their events - amazing work!
Dodgeball
A great Dodgeball festival at TMA on Friday 1st December saw over 70 Year 5/6 children take part in 22 really fun games! Thank you to Bushfield, New Bradwell, Cedars and New Bradwell Schools for visiting us and to all the children that played with amazing honesty and respect.
Well done to the Year 4 and 6 children in their Dodgeball events in November at Two Mile Ash, Bushfield and Middleton Schools. You all showed amazing sportsmanship, effort and fun in games against SMSG, Giles Brook, Kents Hill Park & Middleton.
Year 6 House Dodgeball
82 enthusiastic Year 6s stayed after school on Monday 4th December for House Dodgeball! A total of 38 games played with lots of amazing throwing, dodging and catching - in the end it was Townsend (Green) victorious, with Rutherford (Red) in 2nd and Emburey (Yellow) in 3rd. Well done to all that played and represented their Houses excellently.
Speed Stacking
For the first time, we were involved in a Speed Stacking event on Thursday 7th December! 21 children from Years 4, 5 & 6 were joined by a group from Bushfield School to enjoy various stacking challenges. There were some very impressive times recorded and fun had by all.
Badminton
Groups of Year 3 and Year 5 children enjoyed visits to Bushfield School in December, trying out various Badminton challenges set out for them. All children gave their best and represented the school excellently! Well done to you all.
Skipping
Across two after-school events in December a total of 120 TMA children took part in House Skipping Competitions. Gaining points in various team and individual challenges, children represented their houses brilliantly and showed amazing skipping skills. The winning Houses in each year were as follows: Year 3 – Townsend ; Year 4 – Rutherford ; Year 5 – Hawthorne; and Year 6 – Rutherford.
Bikeability
In November, 71 Year 5/6 children completed their Level 2 Bikeability Courses. Around Two Mile Ash we saw our children being instructed around the redways and roads. Bikeability is a council scheme that teaches children how to be safe whilst cycling and visits most of the schools in MK. Well done to all of those involved – more courses to follow through the year – sign your child up if you haven’t yet!
Swimming
This term, over 400 of our pupils enjoyed our first ever Pools to Schools programme at Two Mile Ash School! A total of 100 in-school lessons across four weeks were led by Elite Swimming’s own swimming instructors with children showing great progress throughout the fun sessions. In addition to the lessons, extra-curricular swimming clubs were attended by over 80 of our pupils. We thank parents and pupils for their support and organisation to make it a successful first run of our new swimming initiative at TMA.
