TMA PE Newsletter March 2024
Athletics
An amazing team effort on Monday 11th March saw both our Quad Kids and Sports Hall Athletics Teams take GOLD in their MK Schools Athletics Competition at Radcliffe School! Each athlete within the team of 8 competed in 2 Track and 2 Field events across the afternoon showing excellent effort and determination! Well done and thank you for your commitment to practices this term - you all made great progress!
Gymnastics
We are very proud of our Gymnastics squads that competed in the MK Schools Gymnastics Competition at MK Gymnastics Centre on Tuesday 5th March! Having shown amazing dedication and commitment to practice sessions this term, they got their deserved reward! Our Year 3 & 4 team finished 2nd out of 13 schools and our Year 5 & 6 team finished 1st out of 14 schools! Both teams went on to compete at the County School Games Finals on Wednesday 20th March with our Year 3 & 4s securing 3rd Place - A fantastic result - well done to you all!
On Thursday 7th March TMA hosted a Year 5/6 Gymnastics Festival in which over 40 children from 6 MK Schools took part in a series of routines and vaults! Each gymnast performed with courage and self-belief and had lots of fun! Thank you to our amazing leaders for offering encouragement and support.
Football
A huge congratulations to our Year 3 & 4 Boys Football Team who finished their campaign as League winners! The boys played 9 games, winning 7, drawing 1 draw & losing 1, scoring lots of goals! The level of commitment and maturity you have displayed has been an absolute pleasure to witness, we are extremely proud of you. Each of you have played a vital role in achieving this success and well done for keeping your composure in such a tense league-deciding final game!
On Monday 12th February, a group of Year 3 & 4 girls took a trip over to Stanton School. For some of the girls this was their first football match ever, it was great to see so many smiles on faces and it was clear the team really enjoyed themselves - despite all of the mud! They came away with 2 very convincing wins, whilst also showing a huge level of sportsmanship and respect for their opponents. Well done!
On Tuesday 27th February a group of Year 3 Girls travelled to Bushfield School for a small tournament with 2 other schools. All of the girls were so excited to play, and for some of them this was their opportunity at playing their first ever competitive football matches. The girls really did us proud, well done on your performances and display of teamwork. Thank you to all the parents for their support and creating such a fun atmosphere.
On Friday 8th March 2024, the Biggest Ever Football Session returned and what an incredible way to celebrate International Women’s Day at Two Mile Ash School! The aim was to get as many girls as possible, all playing football on the same day. During lunchtime, we ran a girls only football festival where any girls could come to the playground and enjoy playing. We had a tremendous turn out, with over 100 girls taking up the opportunity to play.
Basketball
Our Year 5/6 Basketball Team enjoyed a great day out at the County School Games Finals at Princes Risborough School on Friday 22nd March. Scoring an impressive 80 points across 6 games, winning 5! The team finished Runners-Up in the competition having shown amazing teamwork, doing the school and Milton Keynes proud!
Netball
On Tuesday 19th March, our Year 6s took part in the MK Schools Netball finals at Hazeley Academy. A brilliant team effort brought about 2 wins and 1 loss, resulting in a 2nd place finish overall! Well done to all of you - William was named our MVP from votes by other teams! Onto the County Finals next term!
Cross Country
A journey that started back in September ended with a splendid display of running at the MK Schools Cross Country on Saturday 23rd March! All 23 of our runners did themselves and the school proud! Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, patience, and determination! Thank also for the incredible parent and staff support, making Saturday a special event!
Hockey
Our Year 6 Hockey team have been competing in the MK Primary School’s Hockey League on Wednesdays at Woughton on the Green this term. With 3 wins and 1 defeat in their opening four games, they played Olney, Bushfield and Loughton in the final’s night on 20th March, placing 3rd overall! You all played well as a team, scoring some very nice goals and defending brilliantly along the way.
Swimming
The Year 6 Swim team competed in the MK Schools Swimming Gala on Thursday 15th February at Bletchley Leisure Centre. There were some stand-out performances, with the team picking up wins and second places in races consisting of breaststroke, freestyle & backstroke. Excellent effort shown at such a highly competitive event, well done to all!
Dodgeball
Well done to the Year 5s in their Dodgeball Festival at Radcliffe School on Wednesday 14th February! Great throwing, catching, and dodging in 5 exciting games against Long Meadow, Southwood, Bushfield, Olney and Tickford Park School! Our MVP (as voted for by the opposition teams) was Dan!
It was great to host a Year 3 & 4 Dodgeball tournament at TMA on Friday 16th February which saw over 40 children from across Milton Keynes enjoying the exciting sport! Thank you to Brooklands Farm, Tickford Park and Langlands Schools for visiting us and well done to all the children who showed great teamwork, respect, and determination! Thank you also to the 4 TMA Year 5/6 leaders for their hard work at the event.
Rugby
Well done to the Year 5s at their Tag Rugby Workshop on Friday 8th March led by Coach Mark from MK Rugby Club. The club, based in Emerson Rugby Club are looking to recruit new players to their U10 (Year 5) side, offering a FREE month to try out the great sport. If you want any more information, ask Mr Saville and he will happily help!
