TMA PE Newsletter December 2024
Basketball
On Saturday 7th December, lots of TMA pupils and families watched MK Breakers Basketball team beat Derby Trailblazers at Bletchley Leisure Centre! Thank you, Breakers players, for being awesome and taking the time after the match to sign/take photos with the children. Before the game we welcomed MK Breakers players Nate Robinson, Adrian Scarborough and KJ Johnson to TMA for an assembly where they spoke about their basketball journeys and offered words of advice to encourage children to work hard and believe in their dreams.
Year 5/6 Basketball League
Our Year 5/6 Basketball Team enjoyed a fantastic MK Schools League run this term. 6 wins from 9 games saw them qualify for Finals night on Monday 2nd December. Up against the top 10 schools in MK, they went on to win a further 5 games, securing overall joint 3rd on the night! Well done on a fantastic 4 weeks of Basketball, working brilliantly as a team and scoring over 140 points! Taran collected a well-deserved MVP award for TMA for his performances – great job!
Basketball Festivals
Several trips to Glebe Farm this term gave opportunities for lots of Year 4, 5 & 6 pupils to play in matches of basketball against many different MK Schools. Well done to all involved for representing the school so wonderfully.
Swimming
We had a brilliant afternoon at the Milton Keynes Year 5/6 Swimming Gala at Bletchley Leisure Centre on Thursday 5th December! Well done to all swimmers - you did amazing to finish 5th out of 22 schools! Thank you to all the parents that came to watch!
This term saw another successful ‘Pools to Schools’ programme with all Year 4 & 5 pupils complete 4 weeks of swimming lessons. Thank you to all children for their hard work with lessons and to parents for your support in organising swim kit for your children.
Dodgeball
TMA Year 3/4 Dodgeball Festival
On Friday 6th December, Two Mile Ash hosted a Year 3/4 Dodgeball festival where we welcomed children from Broughton Fields, Fairfields, Christ the Sower and Whitehouse. Everyone had a great time playing lots of games to the festive music!
House Dodgeball
House Dodgeball events this term saw 220 pupils compete across a total of 74 matches! Congratulations to Year 5 winners Brittain House and Year 6 winners Hawthorne House on your victories! Well done to everyone that played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship! Thank you also to our ex-pupils that supported with scores and refereeing.
Netball
Well done to the Year 3 and 5 girls in their friendly Netball/Benchball matches against SMSG in November! You all showed amazing teamwork and determination.
Football
Well done to the Year 5/6 boys that braved the cold and played in football festivals at Fairfield's Sports Hub in November. You all demonstrated great resilience and improved massively over the two weeks! Lots of goals and great saves - Well done!
Thank you, Middleton School for hosting a Year 5/6 Girls Football festival on 13th November! Our girls enjoyed their matches against Middleton, Brooklands Farm and Portfields. It was great to see the progress you’re making with your football and more importantly, the fun you had playing. Well done all!
Gymnastics
Thank you, Glebe Farm for hosting a Gymnastics event on 27th November. Our pupils from Years 3,4,5 & 6 enjoyed the challenges and supporting each other with the fun skills. Well done to all!
Badminton
Thank you, Glebe Farm School for inviting a group of our Year 6s over today to play fun Badminton games against your pupils and a team from Bushfield School too! We had a great time!
Hockey
Well done to all the Year 5 & 6 Boys and girls that played in friendly Hockey games against Loughton School this term! You all played great and had lots of fun in cold conditions!
Boccia & Curling Festival
On Wednesday 4th December, MK College hosted a great Boccia & Curling Festival! We had a great time playing games together with children from lots of schools across Milton Keynes. Well done to all that took part.
Living Streets Active Travel Tracker
In November we began our Living Streets Active Travel Tracker with over 400 pupils recording at least one active journey per week across the month to earn their monthly badge!
Congratulations to 5TR for being the class to record the most active journeys in November.
